Able Art Exhibition
Dawn was the guest speaker at the launch of the Able Art exhibition at the Gallery of Ballarat.
She was talking about the art and disablitilty on the day of the International year of the Disability, and about her guest artist's role at the workshop for the Ballarat and Inagawa, sister cities art exchange project. It was a pleasant night with the culmination of the exhibition returning to Ballarat.

Cuppa @ Bean Barn
Interview with Dr Caroline Ellison
Dawn had a most wonderful interview with Dr Caroline Ellison from Flinders University who is doing a research on how disability artists go about their creative work. She thought that we were the best example of an artist and mentor couple she has ever met around the world. We were so very happy to be talking to her and hope to cultivate a special relationship with her.

Today's art class @BRACE
Dawn gave two introduction to art workshops at BRACE today.
Starts with a powerpoint presentation on care of brushes and then a session on mark making and mixing colours. They were well received.
On my easels-work in progress
Day 2, or final now, Dawn likes it better now and thinks it is finished, Helamen thinks it is reminded him of a Chinese doorpost greeting or welcome sign.

Today's painting-Day One
This is the first day of painting, has 3 layers, background, glowing orangy colour, and laying down some patterns might be useful. Decided to have something hidden in the centre.
In the past, after "beguiled", I was stymied about the middle of the painting, what to have there, now I hope this works!
The Sketchbook Project 2012
yiphee, Dawn received her sketchbook today, and the world tour will be coming to Melbourne for the First time, out of the States.
Dawn is excited to fill it up with drawings depicting her theme of "Hope".

On my easels-work in progress
Started out on a new painting on a primed canvas (1220x1524mm) in the colours that I liked which I used before in "Prancing in Paris". I feel these colours goes well with each other and I layered them in blocks and worked in the lines until they got somewhere.

Last days-Andrea and Tas's exhibition @ RedBrick
Just caught up with Andrea and Tas's show at Red Brick Gallery, the wonderful sculptures of Tas's compliment the beautiful abstracts of Andrea's paintings. And we met the two artists at the show today.

AS IZ Gallery @ Portalington
This afternoon we visited the Bellarine artists community at Portalington. They meet at a gallery/studio space and have a lazy Sunday afternoon, drinking wine, talking and appraising art and listening to live music. Vim and Ash invited us to join in. It was very nice to meet new people and network.

Inagawa art exchange project 2011
Dawn was very honoured to called by Emma in this Japanese twin sister city with Ballarat, to assist the artists with this show as a professional artist with a disability.
The following was in the Courier 24 Jun 2011,
The 'Inagawa Art Exchange' is designed to engage artists with a disability from Ballarat and Inagawa to make art work that will be a part of a joint exhibition in Japan and Australia.
Councillor f John Philips said that this project offers our local artists a unique and exciting opportunity to exhibit their work internationally. The Ballarat artworks created over this two day workshop will be sent to Japan to feature in a joint 'Able Art' exhibition in Inagawa in August.

Mid-winter art scene in Ballarat
Space22 has its last show this month, a large group exhibition. Some very interesting art there for art lovers, while Red Brick Gallery features Anne Schultz. I find a couple of interesting paintings of Anne's which I liked, otherwise, I did not get the clean colours that usually I find in oil paintings, probably the paintings were arcylic, I did not take a second look.

May 2011 art shows in Ballarat
Space 22 has
2 NEW EXHIBITIONS
MAY 26 – JUNE 12
For both Lyn Dickson and Cody Joy their art materials, what they work with and what they make art with, provide the inspirations that result in their sophisticated pieces. (quoted from Space22 blog: http://space22ballarat.wordpress.com/current-exhibition/ )

CODY JOY – MOMENTS
I liked the statement Cody made about her art and have included it below
The second exhibition at Space22 had a variety of art pieces, but I did not like to comment on, because it was not my cuppa tea, but don't be put off by me, take a look yourself, its a mixed media pieces.
